Inside the machines we built.

Jordi ter Woord writes about culture, attention and the systems that quietly teach people what to notice.

The Great Inversion

For ten thousand years our ideas needed us. Now the one move left is choosing what is worth keeping.

For most of human history, creation was expensive and attention was cheap. A story took a life to learn. A book took months to copy. A voice needed a body.

That ratio has flipped. A sentence, image or voice can now be made in seconds. The hour of human attention spent looking is the expensive side of the transaction.

Jordi ter Woord

Author

A practical eye for abstract machines.

Jordi is a Dutch writer, solution architect and IT lead. He studied philosophy and artificial intelligence at Radboud University, then spent the last fifteen years building systems that move information inside organisations.

That practical proximity to systems is the point. The Great Inversion is written by someone who works near the machinery and is still unsettled by what it does to attention, culture and judgement.

A three-book children's weather-adventure series about Cloudy, storms, patience, migration and letting go. It sits deliberately apart from The Great Inversion, but it belongs on the author page for readers, parents and platforms trying to find the full author record.
